Session 6:    creating a caregiving team

Often in families the job of caring for loved ones falls on one person---that person is it.  Most of the time this is not a conscious, planned course of action.  For example, it can be an accident of geography.

Caregiving today is more than casseroles and aspirin.  Initially responsibilities can be limited and doable; time required might be very little.  But gradually or suddenly the caregiving situation can morph into a mini-nursing home demanding much more time, energy and attention.

What happens when all of this is falling on one person?  What happens to that person if the situation goes on for years.?

There is another way to approach family caregiving---a team approach.

We are available to work with individual families to build teams, support on-going team development, and provide a program for evaluating and celebrating a job well done.

The ever-growing world of medicine challenges us to learn new vocabulary and skills.  As a family we will be caring for one person after another.

Doesn’t it make sense to do it together in a way that works for everyone?
